“The Singularity is now” works but you should call it the Industrial Phase Transition, which is what it actually is. The only slope that matters next is who controls compute, power, and data. Think political, maybe a narrow techno-state cartel.
Markets will price that control long before they understand it.
Only issue is that intelligence is not one dimensional. I do develop AI / ML by the way. Nice article though. I just question the 1D intelligence charts when I see them.
This is indeed a good, rational, materialistic way of thinking. Perhaps we are evolving to something more than this, however. We are being forced to go inside and find that truth is subjective, and that we create our reality through a subjective empowerment. This creates within us a natural empathy, and thus we evolve in a different direction. Those of us who have had deep spiritual experiences, instantly feel that articles like this are limited and only interesting on the mental materialist level. The greater joys and understandings of life come from a different source.

I also felt as I was reading this piece another understanding of the current “singularity process” as the human enlightenment towards god consciousness. I Am that I Am. Or as Jesus claimed “you (humans) will do all that I have done and More!” We are coming out of the Kali Yuga. Just saying.
Makes sense, but do you honestly think humanity is ready to expose all of mankinds flaws, first of which is war, seemingly always done to incentive profits, imagine if AI were in charge of settling disputes and counsel set up to enforce the decisions…I don’t think humans are ready for a “Minority Report” state yet.
I like the first Figure in the article. Intelligence over time. I noticed at the end of the “human intelligence” line it appears to flick up. That’s optimistic & I like that better than the “Wallie” outcome.
